LAKE LEELANAU RV PARK … for my RV’ing friends!

Muskegon to Lake Leelanau

Our departure day has arrived and we went into our pack-up routine.  We’ve pretty much got it down to a science, even though it’s a little more involved when we have nested in one place for a while.  The breath-holding events start with:
Will the slides close?
Will the stabilizing jacks go up?
Will the MH start?

OK, we’re good to go.  Hooked up the tow dolly, all lights were working, and backed the car up (on the first time!  I’m getting to be a pro at this!)
We headed out by 11:45 stopping at Meijers for small groceries and fuel.  On the road again……….heading up US 31/10 toward Ludington through Manistee and then down the CR-669, M72, CR-667 to CR-616 to CR-651, CR 645 to CR-643.  This route brought us up the eastern side of Lake Leelanau through a new area of Michigan.  PS:  Michiganders don’t use road names, they use route numbers!

To describe northern Michigan as a “picturesque” area would be an understatement.  This region is shaped by rolling hills, coastal dunes, large inland lakes, rivers and large forests.

The undulating roads follow beautiful farmlands, red barns set in valleys and then at the crest of one of the hills were views of Lake Leelanau.

LAKE LEELANAU

Lake Leelanau is connected to Lake Michigan on the northwest side by the Leland River.  Between the North Lake and South Lake the water narrows near the unincorporated community of Lake Leelanau.

The Lake runs 21 miles down the middle of the Leelanau Peninsula and is about 1.5 miles at the widest.  The total shoreline is 41.2 miles with depths ranging from 24’ in the south lake to 62’ in the north lake.

LAKE LEELANAU RV PARK
For our RV’ing friends….. a little bit about the park

Lake Leelanau RV Park is beautiful, sitting right on the lake.  They have their own marina as well as watercraft rental.

The blue section are seasonal sites with a two-year waiting list.   The seasonal rate (May – November) is $3500.   Large RV’s and park models are hooked up to front porches and decks making beautiful summer homes.

The sites that are non-seasonal are mostly premier sites with lake views.  It is very difficult to get in here during July and August but these sites are attainable, nightly or by the month during June, September and October.

Since we are here ‘off-season’, we paid a reduced site rate with an additional discount of seven days for the price of five.  These are all full hookup sites with cable TV.

Dave and I decided we could spend a summer here with no problems.

SITTING ON OUR PATIO .... OUR VIEW!

Perfect views of the water from our premier site!

SEASONAL SITES ... GREAT PLACE TO SPEND THE SUMMER!

The sites are staggered so you don’t feel tight even though the “back side” of the RV’s are close together.

The sewers are located at the ends of the sites so they are not close to the concrete pads and you don’t have to share your views with the sewer hookups of the person next to you.

 SKITTLE BALL COURTS

SHUFFLE BOARD COURTS -- ALL PUT TOGETHER WITH RUBBER SQUARES

LODGE AND OFFICE ... LARGE RECREATION ROOM

The facilities are very modern and clean and the park lives up to its reputation with a 10/10/10 rating!

BATH HOUSES ARE OUTSTANDING.

FEELING FALL IN THE AIR!

The RV park is in the heart of the Michigan wine country, about 15 miles from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Seashore and close proximity to M-22 as well as a short drive to the bike trails that wind through here to Traverse City.

Who could ask for more???????
